On Saturday 1st June, Zoe and Sam got married at Zoe’s family home in Wylam, Newcastle. What a day it was!!! We were the wedding florist and loved every moment of it!
I started planning the floral process with Zoe when Zoe confirmed the booking with us about a year earlier. I was so happy they booked and was very excited to work on Zoe and Sam’s wedding with them, a home wedding is so memorable and personal, and I was over the moon when they chose us to do the wedding flowers as it was a new setting, venue and required creativity. Zoe was so organised and knew exactly why she wanted, we just brought it to life.
From the beginning Zoe wanted warm bright florals, mixed pinks and peaches with some yellow and blue pops. Zoe knew her style, the flower types she preferred and the colours she wanted from the off, and she put her trust in us to complete the job selecting the flowers we thought best together. I knew it was going to be amazing, I could feel it. We used sweet peas, dahila, roses, snapdragons, nigella, peonies to name just a few! It was a beautiful fragrant bouquet!
Beth and myself arranged a site visit and met Zoe and her mum a few months before the wedding at the family home, we talked through the day, and how the flowers could be incorporated and styled with detail in the right places. This site visit provided the detail we needed so that we knew the spaces and how we would design the florals.
The flowers for the ceremony were planned so they could be reused for the reception. The white plinths which are part of our hire decor were the perfect staging for the top of the aisle with planned arrangements and florals on.
Zoe was the sweetest to work with, she and her mum had a challenging task of organising all the suppliers, you need so many more suppliers when it’s a wedding from scratch, and they pulled it off beautifully! A relaxed approach from suppliers is needed for a home wedding as things change, and on the day timings alter with set ups. It was amazing and everything looked stunning!
Zoe’s mums garden was fantastic, and we were planning on constructing two oversized hanging foliage hoops inside the marque provided by Haventide Events. We were lucky to be able to use Zoe’s families home grown foliage! We did these huge foliage hoops the evening before the wedding, there was three of us working on the job, and we were so happy with the results! It set the marquee off, creating a foliage canopy around two pillars, and definitely gave that wow factor. They were left up for the day after the wedding for a planned bbq the family were holding!
The few days before in the run up to the wedding day was good old English summer weather… rain, wind and it was cold!!! Although you can’t plan the weather for your wedding day, you do kind of hope it’s going to be dry. I’m so pleased that someone was looking down on them that day as the weather was a gorgeous warm and sunny day! This made the outdoor ceremony a success! The pictures look like it’s an abroad wedding 😍
The professional shots by the fantastic photographer @pattywijas captures the wonderfully, and all are used in this blog, apart from the hanging foliage hoops which I took in the making of them.
