Gill and Chris- Their wedding success story!

Gill and Chris did it! They married on the 3rd October 2020.

They had so many ups and downs in their wedding planning process that their wedding day was gladly welcomed when it was allowed to go ahead. They had it tough; lockdowns, changes of venues, and having to decrease their guest list from 30 to 15 the week of their wedding.

I loved these two when we first met! Well actually I met Chris first with his mum and mother in law to be at A Wedding Less Ordinary as Gill was away working so Chris was told to go and find suppliers! When I returned that night and drafted emails to all the couples I met, these stuck in my mind as they were so lovely. I then met Gill when she came for her flowers consultation. From the beginning, Gill had an idea of what she wanted but we planned the flowers together based on the ideas of flowers I suggested. I was so pleased a protea was to be included!

Due to the restrictions on weddings in October 2020 Gill and Chris had 15 guests. Small and intimate. Their venue was The Secret Tower in Newcastle, and WOW, honestly its beautiful!!! I thought it suited the small and intimate wedding perfectly. The views over the Tyne are amazing and the windows are surely to be talked about by all guests.

The amazingly brilliant photographer Ste at 'Fallen Star Photography' took some fantastic shots of those windows, views and the beautiful couple! His photography style is stunning and I'm so excited to be sharing these pictures with you of Gill and Chris's big day.

Gill really is a beautiful person inside and out. When I delivered the bouquets to Gill on the morning of the wedding at The Hilton in Gateshead I was excited to see her and was over the moon she loved them!

Delivering the bouquets is always one of my favourite moments as a florist. Although we were all wearing masks and at that time couldn't share our good luck gesture with a hug, there was smiles all round and the room was buzzing with hair and make up in full flow.

Gill had four bridesmaids who carried small bouquets. They were simpler versions of the bride bouquet. They only included a small amount of flowers and were more neutral tones which complimented the dress colours perfectly!

The buttonholes were a mixture of the natural tones not forgetting those mini blushing bride protea which ooze texture. Chris looked very smart in a blue suit and as you can see from the pictures that smile stayed on all day!

They got married at AllSaints Church before heading to The secret Tower for their reception.

I set up at the venue after delivering the bouquets to Gill. I arrived and pulled up outside. Having never done a wedding there before I was in awe! I mean WOW! It actually took my breath away. Its clean, crisp, modern and so full of character at the same time!

Gill and Chris had lots of changes to how tables would be dressed due to the on going changes they had to deal with guest wise and what would be allowed to happen and what wouldn't. The few days before over a phone call it was agreed to arrange the mixture of vases down the centre of the table. We also dressed the place setting, windowsills and cake.

The cake was made by a family member and it looked fantastic. We dressed it with clematis vine and selected wedding flowers.

The Secret Tower has a gorgeous bar area beneath the main reception room and the views from the terrace are picture perfect.

Gill and Chris arranged for 3 thank you bouquets for the Mothers and the great cake maker!!! These were given out during the speeches.

After the set up was complete at the venue it was time to leave and let the wedding happen!

It looked like a fun filled day as you can tell from the pictures by Ste at Fallen Star Photography. Ste- thank you for letting me share them!

The following day I received a message from Gill with the most loveliest review and it made my day. Making couples happy really does make me love my job!

"Thank you so much for the stunning flowers Sarah, you are absolutely amazing! I was blown away with the flowers in the room, all the little touches were beautiful, thank you! I've had so many compliments about the bouquets as well. You are super talented, everything was perfect, thank you!".

To all my couples who have had weddings cancelled, postponed, postponed again... your day will come. Love is still happening.

To Gill and Chris, congratulations! A beautiful couple, who I will always remember working with. You have been married 3 months now! Enjoy growing old together. xxxx
